More ButterLocation: Sydney, NSW Role Type: 12-month contract; initial 3 days per week, with potential to scale to 5 days Start date: As soon as possible Renumeration: $75,000 – $100,000 per year, pro-rata

Role Snapshot

  • Build community partnerships and local engagement initiatives for a major technology client.

  • Work across corporate volunteering, social impact, education programs, and community investment.

  • Join a small, purpose-led team delivering practical programs that create meaningful community value.

About More Butter

More Butter is an innovation partner for public good, helping organisations design, deliver and measure social impact that matters.

We work with clients to uncover how their unique assets and capabilities can meaningfully respond to areas of social need, then translate that overlap into practical, high-quality programs that deliver evidence-based impact.

Our work helps organisations enrich their communities, engage their customers, and empower their staff through programs grounded in what they are uniquely placed to contribute.

Today, that work spans impact strategy, partnerships, community engagement, volunteering, education, and signature social impact initiatives.

About the Role

More Butter is looking for a resourceful, engaging, and highly organised Community Engagement Coordinator to support the growth of a major technology client’s community presence in Sydney (base) and Melbourne.

This is a hands-on community engagement role sitting at the intersection of local partnerships, corporate volunteering, community investment, and social impact program delivery.

You will work closely with More Butter and our client’s internal teams to understand the local community landscape, identify opportunities for meaningful engagement, develop community initiatives, manage external partners, coordinate volunteers, and help bring programs to life.

The role is ideal for someone who can move comfortably between strategy and delivery: You might spend one day speaking with community organisations about local needs, another developing a proposal for a new initiative, and another coordinating volunteers at a community-facing event.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will support the planning, development, coordination, and delivery of a portfolio of community engagement initiatives for a major technology client. This may include corporate volunteering, non-profit partnerships, education programs, community events, local engagement opportunities, and new social impact initiatives.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Building an understanding of the local community landscape, including key organisations, community needs, local priorities, partnership opportunities, and gaps where the client may be well placed to contribute.

  • Supporting the development of community engagement strategies and practical initiative plans that align local needs with the client’s unique assets, people, spaces, and capabilities.

  • Identifying, assessing, and recommending potential community partners, including not-for-profits, schools, social enterprises, local organisations, and delivery partners.

  • Managing partner relationships across the full lifecycle, including research, outreach, onboarding, documentation, coordination, reporting, and ongoing relationship management.

  • Coordinating corporate volunteering activities with external community partners, from initial scoping and planning through to volunteer briefing, delivery, follow-up, and impact reporting.

  • Supporting the delivery of community-facing initiatives and events, including small and large-scale volunteering activities, local engagement days, education programs, and partner-led initiatives.

  • Representing More Butter and the client at community events, partner meetings, volunteering activities, school engagements, and other community-facing moments.

  • Writing clear communications, including partner emails, volunteer briefings, stakeholder updates, event copy, reports, proposals, and program materials.

  • Tracking registrations, attendance, volunteer participation, partner requirements, community insights, program milestones, and event logistics.

  • Building and maintaining program reporting, including collecting post-event data, preparing summaries, capturing community insights, and supporting internal impact reporting.

About You

We are looking for someone who brings a mix of community engagement capability, program management discipline, interpersonal warmth, and genuine interest in social impact.

You will likely have:

  • The ability to deliver on the key responsibilities outlined above, as well as:

  • 2+ years’ experience in community engagement, partnerships, program management, volunteering coordination, social impact, stakeholder engagement, community events, or a related field.

Who This Role Will Suit

This role will suit someone who is:

  • A self-starter who can work independently and show initiative in frequently ambiguous and fast-moving environments.

  • A curious community-builder who enjoys understanding people, places, organisations, and local needs.

  • A practical problem-solver who can move from insight to action.

  • An engaging communicator who is personable, persuasive, and confident with different audiences.

  • Someone who can understand the bigger picture, is willing to keep learning, and is just as comfortable getting hands-on - whether that means writing the email, updating the spreadsheet, chasing the supplier, briefing the volunteer, or running the event.

Contract Details

This is a 12-month contract role with More Butter, initially structured as 3 days per week, with potential to scale to 5 days per week by mutual agreement.

The role is Sydney-based and will involve regular in-person work with the client, as well as travel to partner sites (including in Melbourne), community organisations, schools, volunteering locations, and event locations as required.
